Inward Strategic Consulting
The RIOT PR team worked with Inward Strategic Consulting to publicize the work of the internal branding agency, in particular with its work with major brands including Walmart.
In order to hit the major business media, the team sent out timely and news-oriented pitches on a regular basis, centering topics on the idea of employee engagement and gratification, as well as many other relevant issues pertaining to employee engagement and internal branding. The articles and pitches included topics such as “The Power of Employee Engagement: A Competitive Edge in Today’s Economy” and “The Best Way to Build Brand Advocates? Recognize Them!”
The articles secured placement with SHRM.org, CMO.com, Training Magazine, American Management Associations’ MWorld Magazine, Incentive Magazine, MarketingProfs.com, Development and Learning in Organizations, and Network World.
Alan price: Ready to lead? Book Launch
Ready to Lead? A Story for Leaders and Their Mentors (Jossey-Bass: 2004) was written by Alan Price, President of INSPIRITAS Corp, former director of the Global Leadership Initiative at Harvard Business School and a successful African American business leader.
The RIOT PR team launched this atypical business book (it can be read in less than two hours!) to the expected audience of business readers. We also increased his company’s customer base and drove revenue by marketing the “Leadership Academy Consulting” which Price designed and implemented to assist companies in producing true leaders.
As a result of our strategies, within weeks of its publication, Ready to Lead? was reviewed positively in Minority MBA, Mass High Tech, Black EOE Journal and the CEO READ Blog reaching over 300,000 media impressions. On-air interviews with the book’s authors on Financially Speaking (WBNW-AM Boston and WPLM-AM Cape Cod), NPR’s Morning Show, Market Wrap with Mark Mills, Business Talk This Morning, Betty’s Books, The Kick Start Guy, and the Andrew McGreer Show reached audiences of over 2.5 million listeners. Additionally, we placed bylined articles for the author in the following publications: Employee Assistance Report (EAR), Job Training and Placement Report (JTPR, Minority MBA – Corporate Careers column, Harvard Management Communications Letter, and Training Magazine.
a thousand barrels a second: Book launch and expert positioning program
A Thousand Barrels A Second: The Coming Oil Break Point and the Challenges Facing an Energy Dependent World (McGraw-Hill: 2006) was written by Peter Tertzakian, Chief Energy Economist and Director at ARC Financial Corporation, one of the world’s leading energy investment firms.
The RIOT PR team worked to orchestrate a national book launch in conjunction with the publisher. We urgently assembled a media tour and offered the author as an expert responding to emergent energy stories in the news. The media responded by covering Tertzakian and his book in: IndustryWeek, Forbes.com, Boston Globe, Canada Business, CIO Today, The Providence Journal, Star-Tribuen, Sun-Sentinel, Globe Advisor, Bloomberg.com, Industrial Manufacturing News, Petroleum Journal, the BioConversion blog and many other outstanding business publications. Broadcast interviews on CBS Radio, The Financial Sense Newshour, Landedfm (The Voice of Career Success) combined with print to introduce the book to more than 5 million people.
Today Tertzakian is a quotable expert for the flow oil and gas price escalation, international embargoes and heating policies, equipped with a book that provides a layman’s dictionary for a complex topic.
Re/max: everybody wins national book launch
EVERYBODY WINS: The Story and Lessons Behind RE/MAX (Wiley: January 2005), was originally written as a leadership title but after our engagement, was successfully introduced to a wider general reading audience in recognition of the under-appreciated appeal which this rags to riches story would have.
Veteran author Keith Hollihan joined Linkage Inc. CEO and respected leadership expert Phil Harkins in telling the three-decade ascent of RE/MAX as a transformative industry innovator and posed the question: what is the secret behind the success of 100,000 brand affiliated agents?
RIOT PR’s program ensured that business title devotees and novella readers alike would find this story worth purchasing. After placements in The Boston Sunday Globe, The Miami Herald, Colorado Biz Magazine, The Vancouver Sun, Women Council of Realtors’ Connections Magazine, and Inland Empire Business Journal, Everybody Wins reached the #1 spot on BarnesandNoble.com’s Business Book Bestseller List within weeks of its publication and the #3 spot on the Top Ten of The Wall Street Journal list of business book bestsellers.
Gilburg Leadership incorporated
With a large number of baby boomers retiring, most organizations have done little or no planning for their succession; this is where Gilburg Leadership Incorporated (GLI) stands out from other Leadership Consulting Companies.
The RIOT PR team’s first task was to announce the name change from Growth Dynamics to Gilburg Leadership Incorporated and our goal was to create awareness in the public and private sector about GLI and their flagship program, Leadership Laboratory®. We accomplished this by creating a press kit which highlighted the company’s four programs: Leadership Laboratory®, Path to Leadership Lab, Legacy Leadership Project and Executive Coaching and also creating and designing the company logo. We effectively built brand awareness for GLI by promoting how they can address succession and leadership planning in the workplace.
Our next task was to promote the book Deep Type, written by Alan Gilburg, Principal of GLI. We started by designing the book cover of Deep Type and then promoting it to book review websites and relevant publications which landed them a review from the Forbes Book Club. As a result of our combined efforts, GLI was quoted in the Boston Business Journal “Lessons Learned” section and featured an article in the Boston Women’s Business Journal and on Forbes.com.
Dr. saj-nicole joni: expert positioning program
RIOT PR has increased visibility for a highly valued third opinion advisor, Dr. Saj-nicole Joni, who has been advising CEOs and senior leaders across the Global 200, but has been operating ‘under the radar screen’ of the media.
We have successfully assisted Dr. Joni in first building credibility through a bylined article program, and expert positioning program which has culminated into the development a ‘buzz’ among the top 20 business publications.
Hits for Dr. Joni include: Fortune (June 2005 issue, forthcoming), American Way Magazine (February issue, May issue, book overview), Law Firm Inc. (May issue, article on TRUST and Partners, second article forthcoming), Harvard Management Review Update (June issue), The Washington Post, and The Atlantic Monthly.
We also successfully pitched and launched an entirely new series of webcasts to the editors of Forbes.com. The event, which involved Dr. Joni inviting some of her colleagues to join her, was taped at the Forbes Galleries at 60 Fifth Avenue in New, York. She was joined by Nicholas Negroponte, MIT Media Lab, John Connolly, CEO, Institutional Shareholder Services, Jim Citrin, Spencer Stuart and Bradley Jack, Office of the Chairman, Lehman Brothers for a panel which was taped on Monday, April 25, 2005. The webcast will be edited into several separate webcasts and will be broadcast to Forbes.com’s CEO membership.
In addition, the editors of Forbes.com are in negotiations with RIOT PR and Dr. Joni to develop a series of articles on the topic of CEO advice and performance.
